Move and be connected with nature!
Nature has so many amazing impacts on our health and sense of wellbeing. More than ever we are needing, craving connection with nature which we had started to lose connection with.
The lockdown has shown even the most urban of dwellers, the benefits of a walk, cycle, run in the park. Even just sitting on a bench over looking the sea and breathing in the salty sea air.
Blake and I enjoyed our Saturday’s at the stables, and days in the park climbing trees. I really noticed not only for me but also the impact on Blake’s demeanour, connecting with the horses and being outdoors in the fresh air. The simplicity and connection with these beautiful creatures made my heart melt. I could see Blake’s understanding and empathy beginning to grow. It seemed to have a very profound effect upon him. It has brought a lot of happiness to our weekends.
There are so many benefits of having more connectedness to nature. We all had started to detach from this. I think its been one of the positives from this strange year!
Here are just a few of the benefits it brings:
Outdoor activities reduce the chances of developing eyesight problems
Nature connections have been related to a lower BMI and less fatigue. Fewer chances of suffering from obesity and related conditions.
Frequent walks or trips into the wilderness lower anxiety and relieves stress and other ailments which are linked like chronic fatigue.
In young children particularly it can be shown to improve cognitive abilities.
Resilience and openness to the world around you.
Happiness and overall wellbeing.
There are so many more benefits I could list , these are just a handful.
You only have to go out on a stroll along the beach on a Summer’s day, or a cold Winter’s walk with a four legged friend to feel the difference of exposure to fresh air and nature.
So no matter what the weather, get yourself and family out in the fresh air and soak up all of the natural healing from nature.
We all could do with a boost I’m sure this Winter!!!
